Archived: Plastic Pushers Volume 2
Sometimes, all you need is a little pushing to get that plastic rolling.
No need to go all the way back to the original IISS contests, Rodolfo’s, or the Holland Pages to know Dutch skaters have long played an essential role in the development of the sport, and that the blade roots run deep within its community. Holland has undoubtedly been one of the most active and lively scenes since the very early days, and while others have declined and sometimes, disappeared entirely, thanks to its many actors and a variety of events and projects, the Dutch hooligans have managed to keep the energy high and the rolling strong.
And obviously, one can’t go on much further without mentioning its most vocal and dedicated activist. Using his ADHD as a fuel to keep everyone hyped and motivated, scouting locations, waxing spots, organizing sessions, and filming tirelessly all over Europe and the US, over the last two decades Cavin Brinkman has been responsible for making several full-length DVDs and online videos, putting out countless edits every year, as well as directing the Hibernate series and becoming the official videographer for a skate company we won’t mention here.
Well, now he’s also responsible for filming Sven Boekhorst’s first real street section, delivering Dominik Wagner’s first street profile since Traitement, and putting Levi van Rijn on the forefront of modern blading yet again with this banger of an ender part, along with a whole bunch of great skaters and entertaining sections showcasing the strength and diversity of the Dutch scene once again!
Ten years after getting a clip for his original Breakfast Club video, it has been a pleasure to take on a more active role in the making of Cavin’s newest video.
Despite getting hurt halfway through filming my section, I’m glad I’ve been able to contribute to the project as a whole, and honored with the trust that comes with filming some of the heavy hitters while they caught the enders to their own parts. From one side of the camera to the other, it’s been a truly motivating process to be part of such an incredible collective project, and an honor to be welcomed so openly within the scene. Thank you, gentlemen!
So, still buzzing off the movie premiere and the great vibe of that evening, it is now my pleasure to share with you, the second installment in the Plastic Pushers series: enjoy!
