One of the best parts of living in Switzerland is most definitely the wide variety of terrain one can blade in just a few hours. This idea is at the center of Lausanne resident and Rollerblade team rider, Maxime Genoud‘s latest video project: along with friend and Asphalt Blading Club mastermind Geoffroy Dubreuil, he explored the connection between these different surroundings and the blade setups one can use to make the best out of it.
“Everywhere Anywhere” is the name of the pair’s visually stunning project, and as it should drop in just a few days by the time you read these words, we thought it would be right about time to take a closer look at one of Maxime’s special weapons for our latest Blade Check article. When your session starts with a literal mountain bombing run, you better be well prepared, and have even better equipment: welcome to Switzerland!
Boot:
Rollerblade Coyotes. Everything is original on them. The only changes I made on them are the buckles, which I changed, and the breaks, which I removed. I needed to have the strongest support to avoid a broken ankle.
Describe your personal blade setup:
The Coyotes were made in the 90’s. I found them in the Rollerblade warehouse years ago. They are pretty difficult to manage, and they are high so you often get twisted ankles. I always wanted to do something with them. I spoke with my friend Geoffroy Dubreuil about it and we found how we wanted to do it. The video of it will be out soon.
What parts do you wear through the quickest:
I have only used them 3 times, so at the moment everything is ok.
Which parts are you paranoid about breaking:
The tires. I was really afraid to get a flat tire in the middle of nowhere.
What spares/tools do you keep in your backpack:
A pump.
Where do your parts go once you are done with them?
With my other skates, I always find somebody who needs some parts.
Flat or Freestyle:
Flat with 3 wheels.
Anything you plan to change on your current setup?
No, I’ll see when something breaks on it.
Do you skate different setups for different terrain? (ie park, street, city cruising)
Yes, I have a pair of RB Twisters for cruising around and getting to the train station when I’m late. A pair of Estillo LE Black with Ground Control BIG frames for the park and a pair of Solo Troopers for the street.
What was your very first skate setup?
Salomon ST60.
What was the best setup you’ve had to date?
I like to do all kinds of blading, that’s why I have a lot of skates. But at the moment I’m really in love with the Rollerblade Twister.
Could you describe your dream setup?
One pair that would be perfect for street and downhill at the same time, with wheels that never get worn down… Sadly it’s just a dream!
